Natalie Good Interview: On “Obsesionada Contigo”, Love Island, & Latin Pop

Q: “Obsesionada Contigo” brings a rich, Latin-infused pop groove to your catalog. What inspired you to step into this sound, and how did collaborating with Scott The Pisces shape the track’s overall energy?

The funny thing is, Obsesionada Contigo actually came to me in a dream. One morning I woke up with those words repeating in my head—even though, at the time, I didn’t speak Spanish. I wrote them down immediately because I knew there was something special about them, and from that moment the whole song started to unfold.

I’ve always loved Latin music because there’s something so infectious about it. It has this incredible ability to make people dance while still telling an emotional story, and I wanted to capture that same feeling. The phrase Obsesionada Contigo—”obsessed with you”—felt like the perfect starting point for a song about that intoxicating stage of falling for someone.

Interestingly, I never actually intended to release it myself. I originally wrote the song with the girl group FLO in mind and wanted to pitch it to them. But when Scott The Pisces heard it, he kept saying, “No, this is your record.” He genuinely believed I hadn’t had my moment to shine yet and encouraged me to keep it for myself.

Looking back, I’m so glad I listened to him. Scott brought such an uplifting, vibrant energy to the production while making sure the emotion of the song stayed front and centre. It became one of those collaborations where we both believed in the record from different perspectives, and together we created something that feels passionate, summery and completely authentic to me.

Q: The song captures that intoxicating space between sweet affection and total emotional fixation. Was there a specific moment, mood, or story that sparked the lyric writing for this track?

I think most people have experienced that feeling where someone completely takes over your thoughts. You’re replaying conversations, imagining futures and finding reminders of them everywhere you go. It’s exciting, but it’s also slightly obsessive.

Rather than writing about one specific person, I wanted to capture that universal emotional state—that fine line between falling for someone and becoming completely consumed by them. That’s where the title Obsesionada Contigo, meaning “obsessed with you,” came from.

Q: You combine English lyricism with a Spanish title hook in “Obsesionada Contigo”. How do you feel weaving bilingual elements and cultural textures into your music deepens the song’s emotional pull?

Music is such a universal language, and I love that emotion can be felt even when people don’t understand every single word. Spanish has a beautiful rhythm and romance to it that suited the song perfectly.

Using a Spanish hook instantly transported the listener somewhere warmer and more passionate. It gives the record a different texture and identity while still making it accessible to an English-speaking audience. I think blending cultures through music opens the door for more people to connect with the story.

Q: As an independent artist who writes and produces her own music, how do you navigate balancing the technical side of vocal production with the raw, intuitive side of songwriting?

For me, songwriting always comes first. If the emotion isn’t there, no amount of production can fix it. Once I’ve captured the feeling, that’s when my technical side comes in. I love shaping vocals, layering harmonies and finding little production details that elevate the song without taking away from its honesty. It’s a balance between instinct and precision. One side lets me tell the story, and the other helps me present it in the strongest possible way.

Q: Looking across your discography—from empowering tracks like “Levelled Up & Blessed” to intense anthems like “Trauma Bond” and now “Obsesionada Contigo”—how do you view the evolution of your artistic identity?

I’ve realised that my music has always been driven by storytelling rather than one specific genre. Whether it’s confidence, heartbreak, healing or falling in love, I’m interested in exploring genuine human emotions. I’ve become much more fearless about experimenting sonically while keeping that emotional honesty at the centre.

I don’t like putting myself into one musical box. I enjoy writing across pop, Latin, dance, cinematic and film music because every story deserves its own sound.

Q: Your songs have landed major placements on TV shows like Love Island USA: All Stars. What was it like hearing your music paired with iconic television moments for the first time?

It’s honestly one of those surreal moments that never gets old.

As a songwriter, you spend so much time creating music in a studio that hearing it suddenly become part of somebody else’s story on screen is incredibly rewarding. It reminds me that music has a life beyond the artist.

When I found out Obsesionada Contigo had been selected for Love Island USA: All Stars, I was incredibly excited. It’s such a globally recognised show, so knowing the song was helping soundtrack one of those memorable moments—and introducing my music to audiences around the world—was a really proud moment for me.

One of my favourite experiences happened completely unexpectedly. I was performing at a venue in London and decided to sing Obsesionada Contigo. Afterwards, a woman in the audience came up to me and told me she was from Miami and already knew every word. She’d discovered the song through the official Love Island USA playlist, where Obsesionada Contigo had been featured following the sync, and she was singing it back to me. It was such a full-circle moment because it reminded me how television can introduce your music to people across the world in ways you’d never expect.

Moments like that are incredibly special. As an independent artist, it’s amazing to see a song travel so far and create genuine connections with people I’ve never met. That’s what makes sync placements so rewarding—they don’t just support a scene on screen, they help your music find a whole new audience.

Q: Ever since your high-energy performances on The Voice UK, you’ve maintained a strong stage presence. How does the live energy of “Obsesionada Contigo” translate when you perform it in front of a live crowd?

Performing live is probably my favourite part of being an artist because that’s where songs really come alive. Obsesionada Contigo has such an infectious rhythm that people naturally start dancing, smiling and joining in, which creates an amazing atmosphere. At the same time, there’s enough emotion in the lyrics for audiences to connect with the story behind it.

One of my favourite memories of performing the song was at London Fashion Week last year, where I performed it with my dancers. The response from the audience was incredible. People were on their feet, dancing, singing along and completely embracing the energy of the track. It was such a special moment that the performance was even featured in an Express News article afterwards, which was wonderful recognition and showed just how well the song connected with people.

The Voice UK was also an incredible experience and taught me so much. The audience really embraced my performance, and I’ll always be grateful for that. Looking back, though, one of the biggest lessons I took away was just how important song choice is. No matter how well you perform, choosing the right song to showcase your voice, artistry and individuality is everything. If I could go back, I probably would have chosen a different song—one that reflected me more as an artist. That experience has shaped every performance and every release since.

Now, whenever I perform Obsesionada Contigo, I feel like people are seeing me exactly as I want to be seen. It’s a song that represents me as an artist, and seeing audiences connect with it—from London Fashion Week to people discovering it through Love Island USA: All Stars—has been incredibly rewarding. There’s something really special about performing a song that feels completely authentic to who I am today.

Q: If a listener could walk away with just one feeling or emotion after pressing play on “Obsesionada Contigo”, what would you want that to be?

I want them to feel like they can’t sit still.

For me, Obsesionada Contigo is all about escapism. I want people to press play, forget whatever is going on in their day and just lose themselves in the music. Whether they’re dancing around their kitchen, driving with the windows down or on holiday with friends, I hope the song makes them smile, move and embrace that carefree summer feeling.

Of course, there’s a story behind the lyrics, but I also believe music should make people feel good. I wanted to create a song that people instantly associate with good memories, sunshine and celebration. If Obsesionada Contigo gives someone three minutes of happiness, makes them want to get up and dance, and leaves them hitting replay, then I’ve achieved exactly what I set out to do.

Q: What is on the horizon for you for the remainder of the year—can fans expect a larger project like an EP, more collaborative singles, or upcoming live performance dates?

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes, which is really exciting.

I’m continuing to release new music across multiple pop genres and collaborating with some incredibly talented producers and writers. Alongside my own artist releases, I’m also expanding my work in television and film, which has become a huge part of my career.

One project I’m especially proud of is Jackie the Stripper, a feature film where I not only appear on screen as the nightclub singer, Cherie, but also wrote and produced music for the soundtrack. It was an amazing opportunity to combine my passions for songwriting, composing and performance, and I’d love to continue creating music for film and television alongside my artist career.

Live performance is still a huge part of what I do, so fans can definitely expect more shows over the coming months, as well as more new music. There are also some exciting international opportunities in the pipeline that I can’t quite reveal yet, but I’m really looking forward to sharing them when the time is right.

Ultimately, my goal is to keep creating music that connects with people—whether that’s through streaming platforms, live shows, television or film. I love telling stories in different ways, and I think the next chapter is going to be my most exciting yet.
